Psalm 65 is a hymn of praise to God as the Creator and Sustainer of all things. David penned this psalm to be sung yearly when the first grain of the barley harvest was brought before the Lord and offered as a wave offering. As such, this psalm celebrates God’s goodness not only in creating the seed but in sustaining it until it harvested. Indeed, yield of harvest is a testimony to the sustaining power of God. With the sustaining power of God at the forefront of David’s mind, he declares that God also sustains His people. He sustains by saving them, atoning for their sin, and hearing their prayers.
