Because the Scripture is inerrant, it is also infallible.  Infallibility means that the Scripture is accurate and reliable in all that it teaches. 

• The words of the LORD are pure (ṭāhôr) words… refined seven times - Psalm 12:6
• Your word is very pure (ṣārap): -  Psalm 119:140a
• Every word of God is tested (ṣārap); He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar. - Proverbs 30:5-6
• So we have the prophetic word made more sure (bébaios), to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place… - 2 Peter 1:19a

The term pure (ṭāhôr) means that God’s Word is free from fraud, falsehood, or deceit.  It has been tested (ṣārap) or refined and deemed worthy of trust or belief.  The term more sure (bébaios) means reliable or trustworthy.  Since Scripture is free from error (i.e., inerrant), it is incapable of teaching error (i.e., infallible).  Therefore, the Scripture itself is incapable of misleading.  It is only man’s twisted interpretation of Scripture which misleads.

Inerrancy and infallibility are the guarantors of the Scripture’s profitability concerning doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction.  Because the Bible contains no errors and is incapable of teaching error, believers can trust it to:

1. lay a solid foundation for all of life and faith;
2. equip one with the ability to discern and confront false teachings;
3. discern and correct bad behaviors;
4. develop right behavior.
